Going Off Grid

Going off grid often means different things to different people.  For me, it means a REAL vacation.  I’ve mentioned before that most of our travel is related to business, either Mr. Yapa’s business or my travel business.  While any travel is a good time as far as I’m concerned, it’s been more years than I want to admit since we have taken a full out vacation.

This will be my view for an entire 9 days!

Our view for the week

Oh, yeah!  An entire week literally on the beach in one of my favorite Texas locales, Galveston.  We were there last year and shared some of that trip on the Galveston – Not Just a Beach Destination article.

We decided to check out renting a beach house this time instead of a hotel.  I realized in doing my homework on it, that it is a perfect fit for us.  We love cooking together especially grilling and smoking outdoors and we are going to be on the coast where there is plenty of fresh seafood.  Music on the deck, mere steps away from the beach, coffee while watching the sunrise… wow… I don’t think I can wait three more weeks.

Did I forget to mention, my BFF from school is flying in from Atlanta to spend the weekend with us?  We rarely get to see each other so this is going to be a real treat.  I sure hope we don’t drive Mr. Yapa totally insane.

Have a good one, my friends.  I promise to share lots of pics during our stay.

Happy travels,

  1. What an inspirational view – I WANT that house 🙂

  2. Have a good break! I was just off the grid this past weekend in Bermuda – and it made me feel SO MUCH BETTER. Have fun!

  3. sounds fabulous! Have fun, Edwina

I really need to get off the grid. My last trip was week-long press trip to Puerto Rico, so I had to write about every single detail! I guess this is a common problem among us travel writers and bloggers, no?

    I dream of a real vacation… I hope I get it soon…

  4. I love that idea of “going off the grid” especially in this day when we’re so connected all the time. We need that break for attachment. By the way, I’m new to your blog…and I love it!

  6. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time that we truly went ‘off the grid’. There was a month that we spent out in an elephant conservation in Thailand where there wasn’t any real internet connection, but we had it occasionally so I don’t think it counts.

Maybe it’s time for us to dump the laptops for a while.

I hope you enjoy your time off.
